How does a dog get a UKC championship?

I have a Sheltie who is registered with UKC and I want to show him. He is a AKC Grand Champion already. I was wondering how a dog gets a UKC championship. I know they have to have three wins with competition, but I see some people listing the points that their dog got. I am most confused about the points, and how that protains to attaining a championship.
