How do I get closed captioning off my HD magnavox tv?

The closed captioning is on on my Magnavox HD tv and I can't get it off. I have tried features where closed captioning is and it says it's OFF,but it isn't.I've even unplugged tv for 12 hours and still has captioning.Can someone PLEASE HELP ME!!
