Peavey 5150 (or other head?)?

Hey guys, I am looking into getting a new head with great sound for hard rock, metal and if needed heavy metal (such as metalcore/postcore/deathcore). I need it for the band I am in and will use it quite frequently and probably stick with it for a while. I need a head that has great tone and most of my friends suggested the Peavey 5150 (either 1 or 2). I just wanted to double check that that head was the best of the best (within the under-a-grand pricerange) for what i would be playing. I am also looking into cabs, so if anyone has some suggestions on cabs that would be preferably good for metal in particular....... thanks.
