Is it true that most of the super powers in the war were defeated by the Vietnamese?

I just read an article that the Vietnamese not only defeated the USA in the Vietnam War but also other super Powers in different period of time. E.g. the Mongolian when they conquered most of the war but they lost three times in Vietnam and had to stop the war. Or the Chinese when they were proud of themselves as the most powerful imperial but no matter how many times they tried to invade Vietnam, they still could not win. And some other cases of France and Japan after a short time of occupation, they could not keep this country under their control. I am quite surprised after reading it, is it true?
