What is the best first car i should get? im 18 and i have about a 7 grand budget, help?

im an 18 guy and basically crashed my dads old 95 camry. Since it would be easier to buy a car im gunna buy myself one and give it to my dad once i go to college in September. Whats a good price? i can spend around $7000 but id like to only spend around 6. I NEED a car with good gas mileage cuz i always drive far. pleeease i did sum helppp
